Each one of us knows someone in our lives who has been diagnosed with this breast cancer. Some who have survived, some who are in treatment, and some who lost the battle. There are many organizations that provide emotional, informational and maybe even financial support, but there wasn't one that reached out to the South Asian Community. Our goal is to “fill” that void.
This site is dedicated to all the women & men who have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Yes surprising for many men experience breast cancer too. This terrible disease does not discriminate, it doesn't care if your are White, Black, Hispanic, Asian or anyone else for fact. In our lives we know someone who has been diagnosed with this terrible disease, many of them fight to survive and many not able to fight this disease. There are many organizations that provide emotional, financial and informational support, but there wasn't one that targeted the South Asian Community world wide. Until Now.
Like many cultures in the world South Asian cultures has been known for their "traditional" ways of life. A draw backs of such traditions even in the 21st century is lack of awareness & communication about health issues. Be it men or women, something are just never discussed with each other, and thus the high mortality rate.
Our logo Lotus flower is very symbolic is Asian cultures, especially South Asian. Once the Lotus come out towards the surface of the water, it begins to blossom into a beautiful flower. Since the flower comes from mud and turns into a beauty, this represent struggle and survival. That is where we get our words of encouragement: 'Courage, Desire, Will Power, Determination' to fight & survive.
